Harihareshwar Beach, Diveagar

Harihareshwar Beach is counted among the main tourist attractions in Harihareshwar, which is nearby Shrivardhan. This beach is bordered by the Arabian Sea and is known for its sands and cool atmosphere. Major attraction of the beach is the Harihar Hill, which is located on the seashore. Moreover, tourists can also enjoy boat rides by hiring small boats from the beach.

Lord Suvarnaganesha Temple, Diveagar

The Lord Suvarnaganesha Temple houses the 300 years old idol of Lord Ganesha, which is also known as Suvarnaganesha. This sculpture is made up of pure 24 carat gold, weighss 1.3 kg and is 60 cm tall. It is believed that this sculpture was installed in this temple in place of the old Lord Ganesha stone idol. As per legend, on November 17, 1997, Sankashti Chaturthi, Draupadi Dharma Patil found a copper box from around 40 cm to 50 cm below the earth. Weighing around 30 kg and 37.5 cm in length, 45 cm in width and 17.5 cm in height, it was found in the coconut plantation near the temple. It is believed that the box had some inscriptions of the 10th century in the Sanskrit language.

Kalbhairav Temple, Diveagar

Kalbhairav Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is counted among one of the oldest temples of Maharashtra. This holy shrine houses the idol of Lord Shiva as the main deity. Along with this main idol, the temple also contains an idol of Kalbhairav, who is considered as the lord of all manthrashastras. As per legend, Lord Shiva is believed to be the creator of Kalbhairav. He is also believed to have blessed him with all the manthrashastras. Besides, tourists can also visit Yogeshwari Temple situated in the premises of Kalbhairav Temple that is also known as Dakshin Kashi.

Kondivili Beach, Diveagar

Kondivili Beach is famous for opportunities for various adventurous sports and is located around 5 km from Shrivardhan Beach. At the beach, indulging in paragliding on the surf and surfing on the water waves is popular. One can reach this white sand beach by trekking down the cliffs of Shrivardhan.

Murud Janjira, Diveagar

Murud Janjira was built as a wooden structure in the 16th century by fishermen, with an aim to seek protection from the pirates. It is regarded as an impregnable fort and was also known as the stronghold of the Siddy Dynasty. Surrounded by the Arabian Sea, this fort is located on an oval shaped rock, at a distance of around 15 km from Diveagar. This fort was reconstructed and at present contains numerous towers and turrets to store the ammunitions for protecting against the enemies. The fort still stands with the same glory even after being attacked by salt water on a daily basis.

Sundernarayan Temple, Diveagar

The Sundernarayan Temple is believed to have been constructed in the 13th century during the reign of King Shilahar. It is also known as the Rupnarayan Temple and contains some beautiful sculptures. The presiding idol of the temple has four hands along with many accessories like Gada (Weapon), Padma (Lotus), Shank (Shell) and Chakra (Wheel).

Bagmandala, Diveagar

Bagmandala is small village, which is located at a distance of few miles from the holy city of Harihareshwar. It is believed that the Prime Minister of the Maratha Kingdom, Peshwa, lived at this village for several years. The legacy of Peshwa is carried in an ancient fort, also known as Bankot Fort and a Peshwa Smarak.
